Vocabulary Activities each week

Each week, the kids will have new VOCABULARY words. I am not going to reprint the activities for homework each week. Please refer to this for homework each week.


Monday night, review the words/phrases with a family member. There will usually be 12.  Discuss which words you use that are familiar, but could be used in a different way.

For example: week 2 Math words have difference, product, sum, expanded, standard
  Vocab word:                    Math meaning:                        Common use:
        difference                  -answer of a                            -how two things
                                               subtraction problem               are not the same

       product                       -answer of a                            -something that you
                                              multiplication problem            buy or sell

       sum                             -answer of an                         -some- a group of things
                                              addition problem                   

       expanded                    -when a number is                 -when something grows
                                               written in such a                    larger or gets larger
                                               manner that shows                because of force applied
                                               value in addition 5893

     standard                      -a number written with            -when things are normal
                                               digits from 0-9                        sized or are regular

Tuesday night- Write the 12 vocabulary words in ABC order. Word Search

Wednesday- Write the 12 Vocabulary words with their definition, or meaning

Thursday- Study word cards, complete word search

Each night, the kids should be able to complete a game on Vocabulary Spelling City.
